Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Clinic offer specialty care?

"
!

Patients at Venice Family Clinic can get specialty care through in-house specialists or referrals to external offices. Scheduling for in-house specialists is handled by our team; referrals to external specialists usually require authorization first, which takes about two weeks to process.

How do I get access to specialty care?

"
!

We recommend making an appointment with your primary care provider (PCP) first. Your PCP is prepared to handle many health concerns. If a specialist is needed, your PCP will refer you to one.

Does it cost anything to see a specialist?

"
!

If you have Medi-Cal, it does not cost anything to see a specialist. You may have a co-pay if you have Covered California or other coverage. If you do not have insurance, we offer a sliding fee scale for in-house specialists, and all county specialists we refer to offer their services based on your ability to pay.

Will my PCP get the notes from my visit with a specialist?

"
!

If you see one of our in-house specialists, your PCP will have access to those notes right away. If your PCP refers you to an external specialist, please make sure you request that they send their notes to us.
